• Be careful not to damage the parts located under the vehicle (floor under cover, fuel filter, fuel tank and canister) when raising the vehicle using the lift.(Refer to General Information - "Lift and Support Points")
1.Remove the timing chain.(Refer to the Timing System - "Timing Chain")
2.Compress the balance shaft chain tensioner and then assemble the fixing pin.
3.Remove the balance shaft chain tensioner (A).
4.Remove the balance shaft chain tensioner arm (B).
Tightening torque :9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb-ft)

5.Remove the balance shaft chain guide (A).
Tightening torque :9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb-ft)

6.Remove the balance shaft chain (A).

7.Install in the reverse order of removal.
1)Align the crankshaft key and lower crankcase top surface in a straight line.
2)The timing marks of crankshaft sprocket and balance shaft assembly sprocket should be matched with the timing marks (color link) of the chain.

8.Fill engine oil.(Refer to the Lubrication System - "Engine Oil")
1.Remove the oil pan.(Refer to the Lubrication System - "Oil Pan")
2.Remove the timing chain.(Refer to the Timing System - "Timing Chain")
3.Remove the balance shaft assembly chain from the oil pump sprocket.
4.Remove the oil pump (A).
Tightening torque :19.6 - 23.5 N.m (2.0 - 2.4 kgf.m, 14.5 - 17.4 lb-ft)

5.Install in the reverse order of removal.
• Always use the new oil pump O-ring.
• When installing the oil pump, check the O-ring existence.
