Hyundai Tucson: Liftgate / Liftgate Assembly

- Component Location

1 . Liftgate assembly

- Replacement

• Wear gloves to protect hands from injury.

• Be careful not to damage the liftgate and body.

• When removing and installing the liftgate, an assistant is needed.

1.Disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.

2.Remove the liftgate lower trim.(Refer to Liftgate - "Liftgate Trim")

3.Disconnect the washer nozzle (A) and connector (B)..

4.Disconnect the connectors and liftgate wiring harness (A).

5.Using a screwdriver, lift the socket clips (A) up slightly on both ends of the liftgate lifter (B).

6.Loosen the liftgate hinge (A) mounting bolts, remove the liftgate assembly (B).

Tightening torque :21.6 - 26.5 N.m (2.2 - 2.7 kgf.m, 15.9 - 19.5 lb-ft)

7.To install, reverse removal procedure.

• Make sure the liftgate locks / unlocks and opens / closes properly.

• Make sure the connectors are connected in properly.

• Adjust the liftgate alignment. (Refer to Liftgate - "Repair procedures")
