Hyundai Tucson: Airbag Module / Passenger Airbag (PAB) Module

- Description The passenger airbag (PAB) is installed inside the crash pad and protects the front passenger in the event of a frontal crash. The SRSCM determines if and when to deploy the PAB.

   

• Never attempt to measure the circuit resistance of the airbag module (squib) even if you are using a specified tester. If the circuit resistance is measured with a tester, accidental airbag deployment will result in serious personal injury.

1. Passenger Air Bag (PAB)


- Removal

1.Set the front tires straight-ahead.

2.Disconnect the battery negative terminal.

   

• After disconnecting the cables, wait at least 3 minutes.

3.Remove the glove box.(Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "Glove Box")

4.Remove the passenger airbag mounting nuts (A).

5.Disconnect the passenger airbag connectors (A).

6.Remove the main crash pad assembly.(Refer to Body - "Main Crash Pad Assembly")

   

• Replace the crash pad which is damaged while PAB is deployed.

7.Remove the passenger airbag (A) from the crash pad after loosening the mounting bolts.

- Installation

1.Disconnect the battery negative cable from battery and wait for at least three minutes before beginning work.

2.Place a passenger airbag on the crash pad and tighten the passenger airbag mounting bolts (A).

Tightening torque :3.9 - 5.9 N.m (0.4 - 0.6 kgf.m, 2.9 - 4.4 lb-ft)

3.Install the main crash pad assembly.(Refer to Body - "Main Crash Pad Assembly")

4.Connect the passenger airbag connectors (A).

5.Tighten the passenger airbag mounting nuts (A).

Tightening torque :3.9 - 5.9 N.m (0.4 - 0.6 kgf.m, 2.9 - 4.4 lb-ft)

6.Install the glove box.(Refer to Body (Interior and Exterior) - "Glove Box")

7.Reconnect the battery cable (-).

8.After installing the airbag module, confirm proper system operation.

   

• Switch ON the ignition. The SRS indicator light should turn on for about three-six seconds and then off.
