Hyundai Tucson: Automatic Transaxle Cooling System / ATF Warmer

- Description

• The ATF warmer is mounted on the valve body cover to reduce oil viscosity friction by increasing oil temperature under cold condition, which in turn improves fuel efficiency. It is serial mounted on the entry of the Electronic Throttle Controller (ETC), as shown in the diagram, and minimizes the effects of cabin heating system.

• Engine coolant is used for circulating heat in order to heat and cool the transaxle oil.

• Rapidly elevates the transaxle oil temperature during the initial cold start of the engine.

• Prevents over heating of the transaxle oil while the vehicle is moving.

• Transaxle oil warm-up and cooling can be done with a single system.

• The water coolant and oil are separate in order to exchange heat.

- Removal

• Pipe marking / hose marking to match the direction and color.

• The mounting position of clamps should not go beyond the hose marking area.

• Insert the hose completely to the end of the separate part (protrusion) of the tube, and fasten the clamp in the correct position to prevent leakage of transmission oil and cooling water.

• If the coolant is hot, it may cause burns, so wait for the coolant to cool.

• When the coolant hose is separated, the coolant may be discharged, so work after removing it completely.

• Be careful not to get the coolant on the vehicle body and electrical equipment.

• Be careful not to damage the parts located under the vehicle (floor under cover, fuel filter, fuel tank and canister) when raising the vehicle using the lift.(Refer to General Information - "Lift and Support Points")

1.Remove the engine room under cover.(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Engine Room Under Cover")

2. Drain the coolant. (Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Coolant")

3.Remove the air duct and the air cleaner assembly.(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Air Cleaner")

4.Disconnect the ATF warmer hose (A).

5.Loosen the ATF warmer upper mounting bolts (A).

Tightening torque :9.8 - 11.7 N·m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf·m, 7.2 - 8.6 lb-ft)

6.Disconnect the ATF coolant hose (A).

7.Loosen the ATF warmer lower mounting bolts and then removing the ATF warmer (A).

Tightening torque :9.8 - 11.7 N·m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf·m, 7.2 - 8.6 lb-ft)

- Installation

• Be careful not to damage the hose when fastening the clamp.

• Install the clamping part in the designated direction so that there is no interference with the surrounding parts.

1.To install, reverse the removal procedures.

2.Add oil after checking the transmission oil level.(Refer to Automatic Tansaxle System - "Automatic Transaxle Fluid (ATF)")

3.injection the coolant.(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Coolant")

• Be sure to check for leaks or leaks in the connection while the engine is started.
